When I was at the hotel teaching my class another
group was there- a child beauty pageant. Seeing them really made me
appreciate your program even more. All these kids who could be
learning something great, creating something new, or even just
playing were instead being told to pose, put on a fake smile, and
"beat out all the other kids." In the bathroom I overheard- a mother
told her little girl, younger than Allie, that her face "looked
awful", and screamed at her because she had gotten a little magic
marker on her face. I think your work is more than a little magical, because you help kids shine and have their "golden moment" but at the same time become part of a group of other actors that they care for and respect, working towards a project as a whole. So many programs do one or the other but rarely both. It's not magic of course, it's your love and concern that reaches out to them. Jennifer Stack Dublin, Ohio 6/2/2004 |
You are so wonderful doing what you did today for
OSU Child Care. The kids had a ball, and I had a ball seeing
you in action. You are incredibly warn-hearted, generous, and
passionate. Susannah Azzaro |
